The beginning of La Twist
When I started La Twist five years ago, I knew that I had already fulfilled two big wishes: going abroad and working in the beauty industry. Before I started these adventures, I could not have imagined that they would form the blueprint for a new big dream: starting my own salon.
More damage than beauty
Because during my travels I saw again and again how beautiful and precious our planet is. I realized that she wants us to respect and protect her. In parallel, through my work in the beauty industry, I saw that there were opportunities to support and recognize Mother Earth from our corner. After all, it offers us so much in terms of raw materials, herbs, vitamins and minerals, but I saw that these were completely ignored in beauty products. Every time I saw the ingredients, I realized more and more that they were causing more harm than beauty, both to the earth and to ourselves.
My new goal
I was convinced that this could be different, there had to be something that was pure for our skin and our planet? This question led me to my new goal: to treat the skin and the planet in a natural, non-toxic and organic way.
In these first five years I have been able to test many products and researched products and treatments that support my mission, without concessions and without giving up. And I met a lot of people who, like me, stand for a green lifestyle. These connections are essential, if not more essential, for me to support and inspire each other in this quest and way of life.
La Twist in 2023
In 2023 I decided to take the next step in my adventure and moved to Het Hof in Oud-Beijerland: a picturesque street in the heart of where my roots are located, in the Hoeksche Waard. Here, in this place, where London's cozy atmosphere reigns supreme, and entrepreneurs do business from the heart, and introduce only the very best, I can continue my dream.
In addition to my work in the salon, I look forward to creating a community of people interested in green cosmetics and a green lifestyle, and everything that can come with such a lifestyle. For the future, we are looking at organizing workshops, inviting inspirers, and other moments to connect with each other.
For Mother Earth
With our own products in the making and the most beautiful cosmetic brands under our roof, you can always be assured of the best for your skin and the best for Mother Earth. We scrutinize every product and brand before it comes to us. What packaging is used, what preservatives, does it contain plastic particles, where do the raw materials come from, how is it grown, is it sustainable, is it really organic or is it greenwashing? I have constantly searched for what is truly pure; I always believed that that exists.
My little footprint
I cannot explain the need to share all these findings. It is something I see as leaving my small footprint in a world where it is not self-evident to listen to our own nature. There are plenty of ways and products to empower your skin and body. They are just not common and usually do not have a glamorous exterior. Now that I know what they are, I have no choice but to introduce people to them.
Every day again
The secret does not lie in the use of chemicals. We often do not know what the long-term effects will be, and what we are actually putting into our bodies. Its subcutaneous effect is also that we break it down drop by drop by ignoring our own wonderfully powerful body. The reality is that she does her best for us every day, carrying out what we think of and sometimes even pushing her beyond the limit of fatigue and aches and pains. Like Mother Earth, she asks to be seen and treated with love and respect.
The source of Pure Magic
That is why I want to bring back the realization that true beauty can be found within ourselves. It is only up to us to see that, bring it to the surface and allow it to fully grow and blossom. At whatever age you are. And without the restrictive filter imposed by the outside world, which tells us that we should look a certain way.
By connecting with our own body and with nature, we find out what they ask of us. That is why our treatments are tailor-made for each body, we carry them out manually and we only use the best ingredients that nature has made available to us. Consider organic herbs and stimulating the body's own collagen. Our body can do this very well, without fish or beef supplements.
