Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows near the coast of South America and is related to frankincense, myrrh and copal. In Spanish, the name translates to 'Sacred Wood - Tree of Life'.
Palo Santo is traditionally used to purify bacteria from the air and especially to remove bad energies in spaces. It is also commonly used to relieve colds, flu symptoms, stress, asthma, headaches, anxiety, depression, inflammation, emotional pain and more.
We work with an indigenous family from the Chiclayo region of Northern Peru, who have been stewards of Palo Santo's native habitat for hundreds of years. They ethically harvest naturally fallen trees that have aged at least 3-5 years on the ground, while also replanting the trees in the wild. It is within this aging process that the protective and mystical resins develop. They also work with government agencies in Peru who protect this precious and ancient tree and assist in its reforestation. We would only support the most ethical processing of this tree. We are proud to directly support a family that has been stewards of these lands for generations.
PLEASE NOTE that most Palo Santo you see in the market is not ethically harvested from naturally fallen and dead trees, nor directly supporting indigenous families to receive living wages
We strive to provide sustainable Palo Santo to support the conservation of indigenous lands and culture surrounding the sacred and ceremonial harvest of this sacred tree. Supporting a good harvest supports indigenous lands conservation and awareness
